Domingo- Dia de la ferria de San Telmo

Sunday; my fourth day here …

Julia called me around 11 and told me she couldn't go to the Market San Telmo with me and I was a little disappointed, but I figured it was better that way because I could do all my reading at the park and I'd be ready for class to start tomorrow. [Yeah we had 60 pages of reading to do before classes had even begun]... oh well. So I was about to leave to go to the park; I was saying Ciao to my host mom- explained that I was going to go to the park and read. Well Susana didn't think that was a very good idea- she said I ought to go walk around and be in the sun! It was a BEAUTIFUL day today, so she had a point.  She encouraged me to go to Puerto Madero, a very chic very safe part of town. I figured I would try it so I left and hopped on the subte a couple of blocks from our apartment. Well I got to Plaza de Mayo and realized that the Market was right there. Calle Defensa in adjacent to the Plaza… so I started walking. I loved it. I was a little nervous about being alone at first but there were so many people that I just had to watch my pockets. I kept my purse in front and my thumbs tucked in to my pockets; so, I knew where everything was at all times… and so I relaxed.  I bought a few things, took a few pictures and had a really wonderful day. It was nice not having to worry about where another person was or if I had wandered too far. It’s pretty tough to get lost on one street, so I was good, alert, and safe. Did I mention there are policemen all over the city?

Well with that said here are a few of the pictures I took today:
